Print On Demand Color Map: The Survey has adopted new technology for printing map publications created in digital formats. The availability of large-sheet, ink-jet plotters allows more geologic mapping to be published on the agency’s limited budget than would be possible with traditional printing. “Print-on-demand” defines a publication that can be issued individually in response to customer requests. The maps are reproduced in 600 dots-per-inch resolution with color inks resistant to run. Colors may fade over time. The result is an affordable, highly readable, full-color document vastly superior to xerographic copies.
